January-BRAVO @ Pulau Tikus for Birthday Party

New Year is COMING

As everyone know, it’s holiday season, moment for family gathering, reunion, time for happy family time. It’s Chinese New Year, year of mouse (of Mickey and Minnie~~)haha…… Wow, piggy’s year has waved us goodbye.
Well, honestly, as I grown up year by year, time after time, I could hardly feel the CNY spirit. I don’t have the MOOOOOD, indeed. Even before I came back, I didn’t have the joyfulness or happiness for coming back for CNY. I was simply happy and relief as finally I can call the tiring Clinical Practice an end. As simple as that. And my friend thought so too. See, my initial passion for my work/career has faded away day by day……最初的感动。。。好像都没了。好可怜。。。
Crackles, ang ang décor, shopping for new outfits-from head to toe (as red as possible??!!), preparing the food for reunion lunch/ dinner (tuan yuan fan), line up in the long, long queue just to PAY the hypermarket OUR $$$-trading for canned food, snacks, kuih-muih (to treat your home-coming guests in family-sized?!)…see, the list is never end and all share the same similarity! Need $$$$$, thus our parents always HOPE for GOOOOOOOD BONUS--FAR HUNG~~~

Decorate and cleaning- No, I didn’t join. When I reached home, the same 2 big tanglung have already hanging there.

Shopping?!- No, no, don’t doubt about my craze for shopping. It’s still my favourite. But this year, I am so not keen to shop, purposely for the season. So lazy~ but I did buy a little bit. I slept for 5 hours only then went shopping after my last day of work arhhh!! See my sacrifice?? Keke… *pai-se pai-se** I didn’t buy ang- ang or bright yellow “ong-ong”. I bought all dark! It’s ME, MY style-never force myself to follow the norms…… Well, OK, sounds rebellious and so not-traditional huh? =p BLUEK~~~~~ Well, I just bought some blouses, a vest, and a knit jacket only. Shoes, I have it, bought for annual dinner eh…Pants/ bottoms, needless to buy. 1 pair of good jeans can bring me to all occasions, guys! I brought home my skirt as well, so that I can pair it with my high! (No, no, I didn’t mean to show off. No, No, I didn’t mean to~~ ;> )

Groceries purchase- Yeah, I put my body and feet in this. Papa saw the flier and we went to TESCO and bought a lot of raw food such as mushrooms++, sayur, abalones and scallop for steamboat in the afternoon. My family has already bought whatever needed earlier. Shandy-ies, wines, grape juices, kuih-muih…semua dah ada. Some more got 24 cans of LONGAN…I don’t understand why we need so much!? Longan will constipate me lar… =(

Nowadays, businessmen have commercialized this pathetic festive season. Especially with those entirely funny-name menus for reunion dinner in restaurants and hotels… I’m telling you that money can bring you a table of eight coursed meal. This year, for my first time I am eating outside with my family, besides the steamboat in the afternoon. The night time dinner is costing RM 428 for 10 in a hall. And our family is going to celebrate the reunion together under one roof with the other 70 families. I couldn’t imagine now until I attend (tonight). It’s organized by Anggerik Restaurant a.k.a my uncle’s, also where my mom works at.

See, people happily eating, my mom and her group of aunty-status colleagues need to work; the chef and his team of man need to work hard with the fire, satisfying their customers’ taste buds! Nowadays, customers are susah dilayan. I know this. My mom told me this. Customers want more, asking for more and more as they have paid a value, so they think they would deserve a return of same or higher value services!

January

soon, my first month of 08 has over, it's my first month for Sem 3 as well. so fast. Time flies. and now I'm back for CNY holiday. i have my holiday earlier than some others friends as i got night shifts. so my 3-day off 'sambung terus' with my leave.

Night Shift Duty
i got mine (first time oh =.=) on the 28th til 30th. means i off work on the 31th 7 a.m.... i should sign in by 8.30p.m then work all night long. well, not that busy as it's patients' sleeping time, basically won't bother us much. except some call bell, calling for bed pan for their nature's call. at 4 a.m, need to do vital signs checking-temperature, pulse, respiration, and BP. if there're post-operative cases, you need to take BP and pulse hourly for 6 hours. night time, need to check resuscitation trolley, CSSD-sterile items inventory (those forceps and scissors which have been autoclaved!). close census, total up how many admission, discharge and transfer...and also, write night report.

me and ah yu have our NIGHT on this old ward, female surgical. the whole floor left us 1 ward nia. opposite sudah moved up to new floor dy. the staff nurse quoted what doctors have said, we are abandoned!! *hee...*

well, it was quite horrible and creepy at times...and, well, i admit i'm timid...and uhmm....*ahem* lack of faith *ahem hem*...

my first night, i was frightened out of my wits, for a second, stood rooted to the ground...well, frightened by my own reflected image on glass as i turned around.

besides that, i learnt a lot of new stuffs (as listed above)... i tried my best to work out my best efforts to avoid mistakes. on my first night, signing in for work in less than 1 hour time, i made stupid mistakes dy! *sigh*

the whole night i was feeling bad, feeling how-could-i...feeling such a failure, feeling deteriorating confidence...malangnya, my first 2 night i was working with a very xxxxxxx staff. i kena everything from her...

on the last night, me and ah yu really worked very fast, we completed all the inventory checking by 12 a.m. then we started to draft our night report. i tell you, reading doctor's writing is a waste of time...i don't understand why they can write so fast and assume everyone UNDERSTAND them so much! hello, dear MBBS-es....

well, i shouldn't use satu galah to make the whole boat sink...some doctors, their writings are as adorable and admirable as their looks!! *giggle*

but the fact is, when patient admitted, nurses need to READ from doctor's writing to find out what happened with the patient, what diagnosis lar, what investigations required lar...some writings not even look like writings...just like random drawing lines up and down like that...*phew*

always in old people wards, you might find some real cute oldies...some might be dementia or due to sickness, but their behaviours could make you speechless, hilarious but yet pathetic.

got 1 ah po, she was CHEATED by her family. so cham ah...

NO la. not serious larrr...CHEAT only mah...

oh oh, i mean...tipu

well well well, story-nya ini macam...

her family wanted her to be hospitalised, so her son or whosoever TIPU her that want to go KOMTAR, then that ke lian ah po ended up in hospital. when her doctor came to her, she some more kesi kesi cry, sob-sob like that...the scenario was funny...

the best part is, that doctor some more squated down and asked kindly,

"what happened? why you cry?"

as if pujuk lil girl nia.... *giggle*

then the ah po =.=

"i want to go KOMTAR."

it's a different to stay awake and alert at night for work. i felt tired at almost 4 a.m. then after that when i reached my hostel, preparing to sleep(at 8a.m) sleep just doesn't come to me easily. it was a bit tensed and pressures. no matter how late in the afternoon i wake up, i don't feel any refreshed and revitalised! *phew*** it's over!

ECG
one of my saturday, i was posted in ECG room as we have learnt about this electrocardiogram so we need to put our hands on it as well. my very first time to do. the posting time is just 10.30 a.m to 12.30 p.m during my time i did all 14 cases/patients who were from out-patient department. i tried on men and women.
both were equally hard, if:
  • the woman is old and bossomy( the leads would not be placed on 5th intercostal space but 6th or 7th for more big bust!)
  • the man is hairy on his chest. too much hair requires more gel so that the ball can suck on the body!

well, there was one time, the man came in with his wife, following behind. as usual i asked the man to lie on the bed, pulled his shirt up. when i started doing after i pulled the screen, the wife... *sigh* followed behind me, into the screen!! see what the hack i'm doing to HER HUSBAND!!

please lar, as if i want him~~~~~~

my friend told me her experience and it was *speechless*

she:"uncle, pull up your shirt."

uncle/man:"pants need to pull down or not?"

she:"...... ECG check your heart only, no need pull down pants!"

i can imagine this. maybe it was unintentional or intentional, but this kind of stupid things always happen in my working place. indeed, i have met a few chee ko-s (some the whole family so chee ko!) together with my colleagues.

Thank God i no need give them injection on those bad men's back side, 'cause i don't like to touch their back side. perhaps if 1 day i would need to, i'll just throw the needle like how we throw the fei biao. but it would be less pain if needle pierce through skin in rapid motion. untung-nya dia!

hmmm...

ok, ok, i'll hold the needle nicely, SLOWLY cucuk masuk...

surely, i bet...he will scream like baby without mother! wakaka *evilish LOL* nyek nyek nyek~

ok, dear readers, that's it for my needle-poking lecture. don't try oh! 'cause i'm PROFESSIONAL oh~

~~ these are my little stories during January. i'll soon post my great cuisine tasted in TAO restaurant as well! hope you will be right back! XD
