It has been too long since September

that I update this. It's full of dusts, gone down to the bottom of your blog lists and you almost forget about tracing my life anymore!
So, now here's the updates.

The AwardI got this offer letter on last Saturday morning from Ms. Principal's hands. I never expect to get this as I walked in and had a seat with a white envelope lying nicely on the glassy office table, addressing to me. I looked blankly ahead. I saw her reflection with a steady poise, like always under the glass. I asked for permission to open the letter. I carefully read through in a fast pace, caught the title, caught the keywords.

"Yes, finally! The day has come!"

I have been waiting for this harvest. I have been faithfully sowing seeds, give water, give sunshines, kill the worms and do the weeding part. Now I have a bunchful of joy, thanksgiving and honour that I want to share with everyone in my family. I emailed out once I got back from office.
I uttered my prayer with a big thanksgiving heart. I thanked God for guiding me through as I see through myself in the vision of how God put me in the right timing, at right place and doing right thing. I have gone through questionings and strugglings, asking why I am suffering here, asking why I am in this damn small island, not attending university, dressing up in chic trendy wear everyday, different shoes each day or wearing nice trench coat and pairing with knee- high boots, walking down streets or, or, or working with some damn good people, no uniform, no bad stuffs, travel everywhere buy cheap local brands goods......

Now that I hope my parents, everyone in the family and especially the 2 young ones can be proud of me!

Terminal Exam + College Professional Final Exam + OSCE (tomorrow)

The first 2 has over. T.E concluded my semester 6 with CGPA of 3.73 and only 1 A while the rest were A- only. Over the 6 semesters, 101 credit hours, the conclusion was 3.83. I believed I could score higher if I never did bad to my first practical exam in my life when I was in semester 2, back to year 2007. That semester was my lousiest of all- 3.72 'cause I secured grade B for practical exam only!
"Shoo, go away, you evil 'stagefright'!"

On the other hand C.P.F.E concluded my 3 years of study here from sem 1 till sem 6. It was pretty tough. Candidates need to know everything at least something, some key features or key treatment usually renderred. 100 questions of multiple choices- I got so tired darken the tiny 2mm width circle and I hate the carbon smell either. There was 2 days' paper of long answer questions. To sit for that, you got to know everything about each conditions in different systems and what are the nursing interventions. For example, you got to know what to assess when Mr. Lim came into A&E with suspect of fracture left femur, what a nurse has to do before arrival of doctor. Another example, how you manage a patient who will stop breathing suddenly due to closure of airway, what you want to monitor for, what could be the possible complications and what are the typical signs and symptoms of development of complications. In case, you still think that nursing is so damn easy 'cause you heard that nurses just need to FOLLOW behind doctors- last example: what you have to do if doctor order a blood transfusion, before, during and after blood transfusion; what are your responsibilities and health education that you gonna give to Ms. Lim who had a subtotal thyroidectomy (STT) done and discharge with prescription of Tab. Carbimazole and Propanolol.
(Till here, how much you get about my job, my career?)
Ok, I haven't finish. Choose 4 out of 5 questions each day and complete answer within 3 hours. Imagine how I feel when I nicely completed my third question and then I have to tell myself,
"Hey, you have another more to go leh...It's another 25% leh!"
Results are not out yet. I hope everyone of us pass so that we can be eligible for Nursing Board Registration Exam on 22nd December before I can happily celebrate my Christmas in home church.

Ok, the last one is going to be tomorrow and Wednesday. 10 stations in total. Show off the right way after reading the instructions. Show off plus read instructions in 5 minutes! You see, 5 minutes. 300 seconds to complete a job on mannequin or demonstrate use of inhaler or breast-self examination or teach healthy diet to young mother or check visual acuity or do drug calculations or etc. So, follow the principle, follow steps, open the eyes wide&big and hope to score for perfect score of 20 in each cubicle.

Alright, this has gone too far and too dragging long. I am just jotting down my happenings that typical people don't go through. Haha. I will come again for more soon! Buh-bye~

It's good to be home!

What's better than meeting up with family whenever you are free. Although Alor Star is a real boring place, but this is a place where I came from, where my family is. I can see my parents, my sista, my grandma, my uncle and aunty!!!! For some reason, I get to meet my couz from Australia! Ello, Aislin~

On Sunday night, I went to church with dad. Then I got so happy to see this.
Simon- as the drummer on the stage! so goood! Mul must be glad with him. With his improvement. Then the next day, we drove to a mall to get a ticket for "WHERE GOT GHOSTS". Anyway, full house. So we bought tickets for the next day. Anyway, I ended up giving away the 2 tickets away because I have to go to Kulim.

Not suppose to do this in fact

Having a relieving meals on 5th of August before management. It's Mizi Bistro in New World Park that sweeps my friend's Diners' Club card for three times! Environment is good. Price is ok. Food tastes goooood (if you order the right one, or else I-am-so-sorry!)

I should be doing my case study, my assignment. Flipping the drugs book, browsing net for information on various haemodynamic monitoring devices, looking for the best/ shortest/ most comprehensive explanations! Just have a break (before I get started)

I have done my management practice. Ended on the fifth. The last week was pretty alright. Perhaps smarter and behaving much to the preceptor's delight! Anyway, she never give Sze and me fail in our assessment like what she always said. And we never complains about her, like what she always said as well. But too bad some silly dudes complains in their journals- act of downgrading your ownselves.

After getting scoldings, teasing and nagging and pouring of tears and surfacing of multiple acnes on the T- zone... I- managed to sail through with grace! Phew~ And so, I'm in the last posting before the Raya holiday on 19/9 for a week. It's ICU. The Intensive care unit! The smallest ward with only 11 beds, equipped with all those advanced machines and devices, a place where only great people can survive there and fall in love there, where you see a lot of life and death story, where sometimes you got to struggle on the bed and pump hard (sounds wrong?!) to savage life and bring back the signals of life... I have experienced once. I got so fatigue and feel giddy with the bed bouncing. It's ICU- where you get 1- to- 1 total nursing care but with good team spirit whenever you need help. It's a critical and important place. Perhaps the last place a patient can go when they turn ill. It's full of microbes. All those isolation- required cases go there. Like H1N1 and SARS.

For some reasons, I think that place is good. But, for MORE reasons, I hope I would never go there. One of it- it's just not too easy to survive there with limited skills and knowledge.

Student's working life that I'm in.

Supposedly, working is a fun for some of you. No rules, no exam, no burning midnight oil and earn money for own shopping!

I am working on shift now, but yet I feel so sad waking up every morning to get ready for work. I know I know. I got you- I should be thankful if I can wake up for a new day and see the sun and not *dut dut* (Anyway, I don't see sun if I work morning shift. I wake up earlier than the sun.)

With great power comes great responsibilities. My power is now a student going thru management practice. My power is to help me learn how to be a SRN in future (4 months later).

I want to talk about my preceptor.

My preceptor is a pretty and cool one. Think ChiLing (Taiwanese model) that never simply smile. I guess she's just 24 like that. Maybe she study Diploma right after her SPM. Her only bad is she likes to tease us. Everyone knew that if work with her before. I knew that since very junior. She was and still is, very fierce if she wants to. Maybe she choose people. Some treated with 24-7 fierce and bad attitude where some treated with a certain dosage of mercy and kindness. I think I am the latter one. Sometimes, she scolded me harshly and sometimes, too good to be true.

My friend actually thought I would be damn low and damn sad when she was about to tell me that this particular person is going to be my preceptor. At least, by my friend's opinion, she's not approachable. What more teaching you from A to Z. ANyway, I gave my friend a shock when I responded the other way round.

I remembered how my face looks like on hearing that news. I was very happy. I know at least, she has a soft side to me! So, I made my friend in shock and stared at me blankly.

My preceptor is very efficient, fast and furious yet make no mistakes, with good anticipations and smart at works. Too good to be true. But like I said, she still scold me harshly. A few times, I almost want to burst into tears. But I manage to hold my tears inside the shallow lower eyelids. Myself, my performance is definitely fall below her expectations. I- am just not as best as her.

In our life, you might meet some people that no matter how much bad things they do to you, how many litres of tears you cry because of them, you still respect and salute them. Now I met one.

I hope you read this, dear preceptor. Please give me and Sze some time. Not just one week. One week is not enough. MAYBE at the end of it, still not enough. But we never give up learning new things and put them into practice. We always try hard and work very hard. Until we feel so pressure stepping into the ward. Sorry if we can never meet your standards even after we try so hard to be like you. I know I will cry one day. Sooner or later.

Because never in my life, someone scold me harshly like you *sobsob*

Brain power

I am not sensitive to numeric. I don't work well with them since long time ago and till today. I don't know what is 1.6 mil mean :p

There are a few significant numbers that I can keep in my mind:
a) my hometown house phone number -of course, since standard 1! or even younger I memorise it in case i lost my way home
b) my dad's hp- 'cause when I apply sleep- out pass from college, that's the number I always write.
c) my own hp number- of course, since 14/2/02!!!
d) my birthday- of course!
e) Amy's birthday
f) Viv's birthday- a few days before Valentines' day
g) Mom's- can't afford not to remember
h) Sam suk's- Earlier 1 day than mummy
i) Sweetie's birthday- how can i forget?
j) Mul's- too difficult to forget!

And I think the list is this long, only. So, you can see that I am really not good in numbers. I don't know what's mom's number. Spontaneously, subconsciously I mean. And also, sweetie's one. (sorry! on and off I do recap)

But today, being my first day working in ward for Management posting, one of my preceptor wants my partner and me try to remember some extension numbers of a few popular department during our management time. So that, fast and efficient while working. I can't deny it but I could hardly do that. I am really poor in memorising.
You see, departments like OT, lab, a few consultants' clinics, imaging department. All extension numbers consist of 4 digits. And so, I am speechless. But I just try to learn! Everything in anything.

LEARN, I say!

I am glad anyway 'cause my preceptors are good and known to be efficient and good in work performance. I mean near to perfect, fast and accurate and thorough. I hope I can reach their expectation (if it's not too high!). I just want to do well, get flying colours for assessment exam, bold enough to communicate with anyone especially doctors, able to direct juniors to work, know what to anticipate before it happens and so on and so forth.

Dear all, please don't make me cry or scold me too harsh. Because I can cry non- stop. I can cry for half an hour or more. I can cry. I can cry for Transformers, so, tell me, what I cannot cry for!

Open book assignment

It's not as simple as you see the word "open book."

Open book, and you may not see the answer you want, not so direct, not so straight forward.

I am having a very difficult time to balance my time between study and online. Like playing kiddo farming games or restaurant games.

Too bad...

I got 5 outta 10 for my management paper Q3.
I guess I'm the lowest of all.
I hope I can score well for Q1 and Q2.

Please take my sorrow away *sob sob*

Sob sob!

I hate PMS!

I don't know where to start to do my revision for 3 years!

Why I mixed up strategic planning and operational planning?

Sweetie, I miss you! *uhukhukkk*

Sunday in Sibu for birthday party + Day 2

Story is continue from the SMALL living room- enough for all of us to snap, snap, snap... non-stop. And we even play outside the road *shy*
*peek-a-boo*
the sum of their age allows you to get senior citizen's discounts.Told you that those Sarawakians are passionate and being good hosts to us. The host brought out the home-made biscuits/ buns out. Oven- fresh! This is their 光饼 (guang bing). "Guang" means light. ANyway, no light emitted -.- They have various type. The one in our mouth are with minced pork. Nice. Imagine the pork bun with softness. In the market is around 3 for RM 1.20!!!Ok, darkness reigned. And it's 7 something only. Here we have our party. Catering and some home- cooked food. We were so stuffed by some noodles which known as "kampua." It's like our Wantan Mee but tasted much better, more springy the noodles. no pic here, sorry XD exactly the same look lah!! The most yellowish in the centre of us is the birthday girl- whom always pack less when travelling home as her mom will just buy new clothes for her if not enough, according to her. She was crowned with her present, a big big big bunch of (cuddly- pillow) banana. Ok, I am inside Kenari. We were brought out for some sight- seeing. See some night view. (look, where am i?)A bunch of us walked on the road, cross the road, the rough divider in the centre (which almost scatch my thigh)... It's around 9 pm. And the frequency you see any vehicle pass by is about one in every 2.5 minutes! Even Alor Star is not that.... erm... pathetic? peaceful?

Ok, tired so we headed back to our respective 'home' and sleep like a log. *tick-tok, tick-tok...*

Day 2 in Sibu
Morning~~~~ Bonjour!Ok, it's a great morning with Ag's mom serving breakfast! Very early, the other friends arrive and we, those staying in Ag' place were just about to wake up.*sluuuurrrrrp* LAM PUI a.k.a wet rice! Not porridge! No no no!Wet rice and some simple home- cooked food. The brown thingy were chicken in soya sauce- thumbsup!Finish eating then we prepare to go out walk- walk lo!! Girls in pink and I'm the widest of all! love the blue blue sky! This time I don't need to sit in the boot. YEAH!Special in Sarawak: Chinese words on signboards. imagine how packed the signboards would be when long long Malay street names being translated to Chinese language. In Alor Star, you see Jawi + B.M.Today the journey is all about parks/ gardens. Behind us is some rocky park within a residential area. Long ago, there was water fountain and now no more. In our place, if you get a children play area you should feel so happy and close your mouth and laugh. Imagine, one non- luxurious residential area with this kind of infrastructure. Are they too wealthy or spacious?
Have I not introduce my roommate? The one on the most right in darker pink tee.
Neh, neh, neh~ Rocky park... and the pool is too shallow to be true... Reflection nice or not ^.^ ?We were acting so happy and the fact is we were under a scorchingly hot sun, giving me tanned line and being moody and irritably! But sunny girls look pretty all the time! Hey, you know what time is this? It's 11 plus!!! Thanks to Kenny -.-" Under shade of umbrella whenever possible is cool. Behind, there was a pool, formerly a mining pool (if I remember well).

Ok, then we continued to visit next park. On the way, we passed by some Catholics cemetery. So, the next photo would tell you how the place look like. hmmm...just scroll down fast if you want to avoid it.
It's ok, gut-dependant XD

Next, it's this park. Some difficult name to remember.
The greenish pool have a lot of fishes and tourists can just grab some fish food for 1 bucks and they'll come near to you! None of us were kind enough to play with fishes. My mood was kind of affected by the hot weather.Very affected to the extend of heading to shaded area to take pictures and let the photographer zoomed in... and my responsibility is to smile as happy as possible, as if the weather is so lovely. I don't know why, I just don't quite fancy outdoor. Being indoor or outdoor you still get some skin damages anyway, so why not get'em by sitting in air-cond room, drinking more water and apply sun- block plus skin lotion plus lip balm... That's more comforting! Sweat makes me smell bad and sticky and leading to moody and emotional and frustrated!Wearing jacket to prevent hot sun from aging our skins. Extra umbrella will do a better work! Here hiking up for some better view.Hate the shakiness of hanging bridges. Sarawak has hanging bridges at almost all parks. And they have many parks in the first place. Getting up so high, closer to radiation and sunburn! Ouch~Here, the peak. The background was Sg. Rajang with factories for tree trunks along riverbank. Hate chopping off trees. Make the weather getting worse.Tea break: lil cup cake. or egg cake. (what cake doesn't made of egg anyway?) This kind of cakes were once my fav during chidlhood. Cakes in fish shape or round lil dome shape! haha... Childhood is good! Adulthood- you got to buy cakes on your own.Ok, this's another park. *big hot sun* Nai Tang Park 乃棠公园
It's a park to commemorate those FooChow ancestors who came over to Sibu from China, and develop this Sibu. Think Kapitan who develop KL. Or Parameswara who founded the Malacca and made it so big and occupied by jealous- superego people. So, it seems Sibu wasn't that rich that time.

Ok, so 3 of us(from left: Joyce, Wendy and me) stood before the statue of Nai Tang. *salute**serious* and it seems someone can't hold for a moment and seriously, burst out laughing after the shutter sound of my camera.A curvy wall with marble all over. From left: Choon, Joyce, Wendy, Irene, Orange, me, Sophie, Helen and S.Ling (roommate!!)

Ok, after sweating and burning for the whole noon, finally we get to bathe and dressed up for dinner in Sze's house! On reaching her kitchen, to our surprise/ horror,
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
So many food were there waiting for us to savor! My fav!! Assam BBQ chicken wings. Immediately I had my hands washed and tuck in! Dislocate the joints and *yum yum* savor heartily. And I had a lot of nice double-boiled chicken soup! I love soups!!!! YEAH!After food, we have big 'toy' to play. Hey Hey! Cute baby waiting pretty nurses to feed him (or her, forgotten) Refused to be burped, can't stop sucking the milk.Oh no Joyce, see how did you sit that time just to take photo with the big fat baby!!! Whose baby is that? Sze's someone's baby right?

Ok, after dinner, we left the house with a great thanks to Sze's Eurasian- alike mom and headed to Paw's grandma's house for SUPPER! EAT AGAIN!

That's all, too long. You may not be able to swallow your saliva fast enough. Save the aromatic red wine mee suah and muachi-alike tang yuan for next post! To be continued.......... :)

Day 1 in Sibu

Today is my first day for test in this semester. In future 5 months, basically, averagely is monthly test including those big big one! this morning, I made a mistake of leaving a piece of note unattended while doing revision at 6. 30 a.m. and that caused me to loose 5 marks over 30.

Distinguish between strategic and operational planning. (5 marks)

I was pretty confident as I analyzed the keywords and I blah out everything that I came across or heard (during class). Seriously, I thought 3 or 4 is possible until my friend told me,
"Ya, right... It's exactly opposite..." (faint)

So, no more 3 or 4, it's going to be zero for that. Now hopefully I don't mark for the fillintheblank for Organization chart. "Medical Services" was substituted by "Medicine". PLEASE! Tell me that they mean the same.

Ok, bygone Management paper (part of behavioral science) and possibly the next paper is much easier to handle after burning essential midnight oil. Being able to upload some photos is good enough. Let's see.

Oh, this is Agnes (2nd, left)'s house (kitchen) where we were welcomed by FooChow's traditional Chicken soup mee suah (fine, long noodles, think vermicelli or angels hair) as we arrived in Sibu. It's best served with wine (hong zhao) made of herbs. In our language, it's called 'red wine' but in fact it's not grapes' product. So, 4 of us from right (me), we stayed in Agnes's home! After few hours without having to complete gastric emptying, we arrived in another friend's bungalow for chinese lunar birthday. We, the westerners from Peninsula were splited into 3 groups and stayed in 3 friends' house. The hosts are most left, most right and the 6th from right (the lil head between green&black tee). Before party starts, we played around on the street. Camwhoring using my 10-buck-3ft-tripod. Successfully caught the attention of those landcruiserSSS that passed by us. We were satisfied by the ample space for 8 hens to pose happily~ XDTripod-camwhoring in Kenny's living room. This is a TINY lil corner of her BIG living room.

Sadly, that's all for now. I will try to complete the story ASAP. Will try assemble photos using PhotoScape and upload. GIMME TIME and don't hesitate to come biack again!

(back to thick thick books...)

Who say?

Who say nursing is meant for those lousy students from the last class, who have minimal potential to be successful in other fields?

If the statement is true, why am I having the stress? Why am I having extensive coverage of pimples on T- zone? Why I strive so hard?

So, do you mean that I am from the last class of lousy student? So, what is the significance for a student to score GPA of 3.8 or 3.9?

Simply it means, the next time when you are sick, or your wife going to deliver or watever cause, you get a intelligent carer who knows how to handle your condition and foresee any complications that may arise and take precautions needed. And you can be sure that your life is safe, you are in good hands with the mercy of God!

Why is there discrimination for this particular profession?

BUSY SEM

Alright, this explains why I appear so infrequently to update blog. I have many things to share. But I just don't have the time for it. In fact, tomorrow I am having a test on Management paper. Yet, I feel like doing this during MY break! Self- prescribed break~

Ok, tat's enough. No more photos. Too big to upload'em.

***small talk: Do you understand when MAnnie, the mammot screamed "Code Blue!Code Blue" in Ice Age 3 when Ellie has a kick from the baby? *smile sheep sheep sheepishly, prouuuuuuudly*

Flying to Sibu!

Before that, we got to be good guests so we have to prepare souvenirs of Penang local delights for Sarawak hosts (our friends!) few days before the trip. So we bought boxes of tau sar pheah and some other food. Each of us draw lots see who carry souvenirs to whose home.
14.6.09
Early morning, as early as 6. 3o a.m. Mandy and ah Choon's bf drove us to airport. Penang International airport. And each of us carry big luggage and I myself carry backpack and bringing along my blackie (birthday present from myself to myself last year, if you remember!) as hand luggage and latest Mango- blackie (also birthday present but from sweetie, if you know and in case you don't know.) as handbag to keep my valuable belongings.Friends and some parents who remind their daughters how to take care during the journey. Remind them not to be naughty!Boarding. Waiting for our flight to arrive. We're flying to LCCT first. It's very excited as it's first time flying experience for some of us. It's my first time flying without supervision. LOL. (Funny or not my joke? and you can't be disagree!)
Oh, some moment catching while everyone is just on board, not yet headcount. First time I realise how the flight attendants do the headcounts back and forth for 3 times or more with the lil metal counter. And so after some time, I arrive at LCCT and was welcomed by a sweet-good guy! All of us went for light meal after checking in for next flight. I had some box sandwiches whice were not that nice as my brunch. And the particular fella was sweet enough to drive a long journey from his place to come over and do some catch-up! (Hey, earpulling for staying up late!)It's time for boarding. Going thru customs, scanning body and handbags. Nothing on me sound the alarm so I was managed to escape from the thorough-hand-over-body-checking by policewoman. bye bye! Drive safe and sleep tight ya!!! I know it's Sunday so you can sleep until the sun shines onto ur pat pat! I will buy you many many souvenirs~ (",)Alright. After 2 hours of flying across the South China Sea from KL, now we see the (muddy) Sungai Rajang- Malaysia Longest River (540km). To my surprise, I figured out something. I never know clouds cast shadows. Now I know why we say the sky is dark and rain is coming. That's when we are under the clouds' shadows. Am I right anyway?Temperature checking at the entrance to airport before we can go through the Sarawak Immigration counter. All the passengers got to declare in black and white regarding their health status presently, previous visit to WHO- declared epidermic countries, record down the flight number and seats number. After that we, from west Malaysia receive an immigration permit that lasts for 90 days.
