Hospital established by a group of missionary and run by nuns. It's Roman Catholic hospital. below is a view from outside of chapel.
We went in to the Radiotherapy room. There are around 4 doors to go inside. Walls are super thick. Well, the person (not sure is he an oncologist) speaks in heavy Indian accent to explain about the accuracy, isotope, planning etc. It's very CHIM... but well, at least something very significant to me. He said, accurate in calculating and planning give maximum dose to the tumor and minimum dose to the adjacent healthy tissues. He told us something new- Brachytherapy. Brachy means near in some language (Greek I guess) It's to treat internal type of carcinoma. Like prostate cancer and cervical cancer (so, get yourself immunised with Gardasil-around RM 1k for 3 full doses). Need to insert applicator inside first, under general anaesthesia in operation theatre. then when give treatment time, connect it with something look like wire. The therapy give high dose in short time. Normal radiotherapy gives 2 GY at once. But this Brachy gives 30 GY at once. like 15 times stronger.
Actually all that he said was super big words, bombarstic to me. Like isotopes- I've forgotten it. But it's very interesting. He solved my doubt all this while. Last time it's hard for me to imagine how can it be accurate. Well, I know that what he intro was a tip of an ice berg. Truly CHIM. Very cool, I would say. I saw the mould used to immobilise patients, and head one as well. Something like put screws around a big ring, so that you dont' move even you are in great fear. Of course, that's for treating brain tumor time. What do you expect in such a hospital? Nothing exciting about it. It looks quite down on the hillside, facing the sea. Constantly they need donations from good people to buy very 'IN' and advanced equipments. What if the Menteris don't go for 'study tour', then take the money to donate for them. M'sia so big, nothing better to study meh. Go taiwan for what, they can't eat good food there, non- HALAL. They don't know who is Chiling Lin or Jolin Tsai or anyone. I heard they bring along golf bag for study tour worr... Interesting leh?
Bus arrived, time to leave already. But we still take the time to take photo (for memory). The middle girl, she's sponsored by Island Hosp, this means that we'll be separated after finish study...Her laughter is always unforgettable~
